The G20 Labour Ministers met in the picturesque town of Bad Neuenahr, near Bonn, for two days of meetings. Our team was there to set up and run the table microphones and simultaneous interpretation, combining the session room and press conference room to allow feeds of all the required languages to be heard internally and, when appropriate, externally by the broadcasters.
The Brähler CDSVAN congress system worked in tandem with the Sony HD pan/tilt/zoom camera system installed in the middle of the table, providing crisp, clear video to the interpreter booths and relay screens.
Infrared receiver/headsets were provided to allow the Ministers' assistants and support staff to listen to the proceedings in their preferred languages. Infrared is commonly used in interpretation systems for events, as the infrared signal cannot pass through walls, which means greater security and less chance of eavesdropping.
